Avocado Tree
  • £29.99

This really is a novelty plant and something different - so different in fact, we've not grown them fully either (yet!). We've located a small specialist grower in Holland who is developing ways to grow Avocados in Northern Europe and these fine trees are a great starting point. Avocados thrive in warm, humid conditions, so will need winter protection in the UK - they can grow outside on patios fine though between late May and September. They will grow quite quickly at 50cm a year and these are already pruned back, so this season will produce side branches. It makes an attractive indoor plant anyway, forming a woody trunk with pleasant glossy leaves. They usually take 5-7 years to produce fruit on a mature tree, and have fruited in UK before - indoors and out. These Avocados are so new though, you will have great fun trying growing them regardless of whether they fruit, safe in the knowledge that virtually no-one else has ever grown one! Very limitted stocks so order yours now to avoid disappointment!

The Chelsea Fig Bush
  • £29.99

Many Londoners know of a fabulous and fruitful Fig Tree, growing on the banks of the Thames where Chelsea Bridge meets The Embankment. Each Summer its huge crops are joyfully plundered - either by flocks of parakeets high up in the tree - or cheeky human scrumpers lower down where it can be reached. Either way, it produces huge crops of figs every year. So well-known is this specific tree, it even featured as the main hideout in William Boyd's novel Ordinary Thunderstorms. Fruit grower Will Sibley knew of this tree, and had tasted its fruit. he took samples away to analyse, and concluded it was a chance seedling - a single and unique tree like no other variety grown. So good was the flavour and yield, he set about propagating and grafting trees to sell from it - and here we are now selling them. Now called 'The Chelsea Fig', every single tree is identical the one by the river. Get yourself a piece of London history and folklore, and grow them in your garden. Supplied as an established plant in a 4.5L pot, ready for immediate planting.

Patio Plum Little Vic
  • £29.99

We are delighted to be able to offer the joys of the nation's favourite Plum 'Victoria', but small enough for EVERY garden! Now anyone can grow juicy, fresh Vic's, even on a balcony, terrace, or small patio. Clever fruit tree grower Will Sibley has teamed the ever-popular best-selling 'Victoria' with a very dwarfing and compact new VVA1 rootstock, which removes most of the vigour that can sometimes be the downfall of plums. It's like someone has shrunk the tree - smaller in every way, except the fruit, which is just as big and juicy as the normal variety. It still produces lovely pure white spring blossom displays, and is self-fertile, so no other plums needed for fruit - just leave the bees to do their thing! Perfect in large patio pots (minimum 30cm diameter) for 5 years or so, it produces big, juicy crops of classic red Victoria Plums, yet stays small, manageable, and perfect for everyone. Supplied as an established plant in a 4.5L pot, ready to plant out.
