No, your eyes are not deceiving you - this amazing hardy Hibiscus standard tree actually does have 3 colours on the same tree, and will stay that way too. Hibiscus are often propagated by grafting, and the clever nurserymen have here grafted 3 individual different colours - blue, pink and white - to the top of the standard stem. Usually they would graft 3 of the same colour, but in an experimental moment, created this delightful result. And vitally, all 3 varieties have been selected carefully so they grow at similar rates, and no one colour will dominate the tree. This is a more reliable method than the sometimes offered 3 colours plaited together. All they need is an annual trim to shape, and they will stay in this lovely mix for years. Hibiscus syriacus is totally hardy in the UK, but thrives best in hot, sunny spots, and responds well to heavy feeding, especially trace elements. Flowering in August and September, prepare to amaze your friends and neighbours with this horticultural wonder!

Whatever plant is used, topiary of any kind always draws attention, bringing elegance to the garden like few other things can. Buxus, or Box, is the classic plant for growing as topiary because of its glossy, evergreen foliage and small leaves which lend themselves perfectly to being clipped into precise shapes. Box topiary provides valuable structure in the garden all year round and our classic pyramid is the perfect example. Planted in borders it provides a beautiful focal point, and it looks stunning when grown n an eye-catching pot and arranged either side of a door or gate, or lining a path. Recommended by the RHS as a 'Plant for Pollinators', box has tiny yellow spring flowers, which although hardly noticeable to us, are favourite with butterflies and bees. Incredibly tough and fully winter hardy, box is slow growing so its shape stays looking neat with little more than a light trim just twice a year. Clipping these plants is so therapeutic, and once you have one topiary plant, you're certain to want more and more! Supplied as an established plant in a 26cm pot, 60-70cm in height.

Tree ferns were a firm plant hunter's favourite from Victorian times, a symbol of wealth and travel experiences to Australia. They have maintained this sense of mystique ever since. Now you too can grow these surprisingly easy exotic looking plants too. Harvested under strict License from woodland clearance in Australia and Tasmania, these astonishing plants really will delight and amaze. They grow under the woodland canopy, in the shade, so grow them here in a sheltered spot too. These 'potter' logs are already over 10 years old, and have been cut back and harvested dormant. When you water them via the top crown, they will burst back into life, like it's the new rainy season! Because they grow in leaf canopies, most of their food comes from leaves falling into their giant shuttlecock like fronds, funnelling the goodness into the growing crown. Even at this size of log at 30cm tall, new fronds of almost 1m in length will unfurl spectacularly within a Month or so of you watering it. It's amazing when they come how quickly they grow. The plant is hardy down to -5 in winter, although the fronds will die back. Cutting these off when they die back is what creates the new trunk, which slowly inches up over many, many years. Keep the crown protected in Winter with a layer of straw to keep cold and wet out. When you get it home, plant it in a big pot, or in the garden soil. It takes almost 2 years to root in, so do not be alarmed by this slow growing beauty.
