Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola' is a Japanese-style, ornamental grass that grows in a neat, arching mound when planted in sunlight or partial shade. Its narrow leaves are mostly yellow, giving it the name Golden Hakonechloa, but they are adorned with a thin, green stripe, adding further interest. In the autumn, the hardy plant's foliage turns a stunning orange-bronze colour before dying off due to its perennial nature. Clematis 'General Sikorski' was named by its Polish breeder after the famous General and Prime Minister of Poland in exile, during WWII, who was killed in an RAF plane crash, after taking off from Gibraltar in 1943.
