Agastache is an upright, bushy hardy perennial with a long flowering season that blooms in spikes that rise from the foliage on stiff triangular stems. Recommended by the RHS as a 'Plant for Pollinators', they are a favourite with butterflies and bees and other beneficial insects, and they make great cut flowers too! Preferring dry conditions, Agastache loves to grow in full sun and poor, well drained soil that's moderately fertile, so it's happy growing in dry conditions such as gravel gardens and coastal locations. English Lavender Collection
  • £8.49

Seen in some of the swankiest gardens across the country, lavender will easily create features that will delight all the senses for many years, such as hedges, specimen bushes and topiary. The silvery grey foliage and pure purple blooms are packed with a heady scent and will provide you a colourful spectacle from early to mid summer. Hidcote is one of the most aromatic varieites, grown widely in the fragrance market, yet is a great garden variety too. The purple flowers are also a magnet to bees, butterflies and other beneficial creatures, which will have your garden buzzing with wildlife - literally!  Growing up to 60cm tall, a hedge of traditional English lavender can be used in many ways. Try planting it around beds, borders or paths, to divide up parts of your garden or to make an eye-catching parterre or knot garden. Space plants 30cm apart and  once established, a lavender hedge is extremely drought tolerant. Keep it in great shape by pruning twice a year; trim lightly in mid to late summer, removing spent flower heads. Prune again in early spring, removing about 2.5cm of growth. The Bad Tempered Gardener
  • £8.49

Seeing gardening as a serious and even outrageous art form has placed Anne Wareham well outside of what usually passes for discussion of gardens. Impatient with received ideas, eager to provoke, The Bad-Tempered Gardener is the story of her development as a thinking gardener and the creation with her husband, Charles Hawes, of their acclaimed garden in the Welsh borders, the Veddw. From the strange (plant obsessives, a bizarre debut as a television presenter) to the everyday (deadheading, sharing a garden), with frequent paeans to favourite plants and thoughtful pieces on show gardens and status, this is an intelligent, pugnacious and engaging book. It also unflinchingly conveys the challenges, the hard work, triumphs and failures behind the creation and development of a substantial contemporary garden. 196 Pages

HSK Specialist Tree Fern Feed 500ml
  • £8.99

Tree fern specialists HSK have developed this specific concentrated Tree Fern Feed to get the best results from their wonderful tree fern logs. In their native habitat, tree ferns grow in dense shady wooded areas, beneath the main tree canopy. Leaves falling off trees gather in the crown of the tree fern, and mix with rain, slowly feeding the top of the log, where the new fronds emerge. This is unlikely to happen here in UK gardens, even in shady areas, so this specialist tree fern feed mimics the nutrients provided in their habitat, with a balanced feed to encourage strong frond growth. Feed every week or so in growing season (May til September), this 500ml will last a least 2 years if used as per the label. It can also be used to feed any other garden ferns in shady locations.
