Caryopteris are compact deciduous shrubs that boast a profusion of delicate flowers in clusters along arching branches in bright shades or lavender and blue. A Royal Horticultural Society 'Plant for Pollinators', caryopteris is a magnet for bees, butterflies and a host of other pollinating insects, attracted by the dense clusters of dainty flowers in August and September. Easy to grow and drought tolerant, caryopteris is happy in a pot or in the ground in a sheltered location and is the ideal size for the middle of the border, and the foliage provides a wonderful colour contrast for surrounding planting.
